Everyone loves chaat. They are delicious to eat and make for great party food, allowing guests to customise the chaats according to their taste and love for spice!

So if you are throwing a Diwali party this year, here are the recipes of three chutneys which are the basic ingredients for some of the most delicious chaats, you can serve your guests!

Green Chutney

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Fresh Mint leaves
  • 1-2 tsp lemon juice
  • 6-8 green chillies
  • 1 cup fresh Coriander
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
Method:

  • Grind Coriander, green chilli, lemon juice and mint finely in a grinder, add some water if needed.
  • Then transfer into a bowl and add salt to taste.
  • Green chutney is ready.

Chilli Garlic Chutney

Ingredients: 

  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • 15-20 Cloves of Garlic
Method: 

  • Grind Kashmiri red chilli powder, garlic and red chilli powder finely in a grinder, add water if needed.
  • Then transfer into a bowl and add salt to taste.
  • Chilli garlic chutney is ready.

Sweet Tamarind Chutney

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Tamarind / Imli (Seedless)
  • 5-6 Dates (seedless)
  • ¾ cup Jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup water or as needed

Method:

  • In a saucepan add water, dates and tamarind.
  • Let this boil for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add jaggery. Let the jaggery dissolve. Turn the heat off.
  • Let the mixture cool down.
  • Once it has cooled down, grind the mixture in a grinder.
  • Strain the mixture through a strainer to get smooth chutney.
  • Sweet Tamarind chutney is ready.
You can use these Chutneys in any chaat recipes or by themselves as condiments.
