Kesar peda is a classic Indian sweet made for festive occasions. They are delicious and made with very few ingredients like milk powder, cardamom and saffron. This is a easy recipe to make.

Recipe by Noni Sachdeva

Ingredients

  • ½ cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 4-5 tbsp saffron mixed in some hot milk
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp butter/ghee
  • 5-6 almonds halved (for garnishing)

Method

  • Heat a saucepan on low heat and add butter.
  • Once the butter melts, add milk powder.
  • Mix this and add the condensed milk.
  • Mix again.
  • Add the saffron milk mixture.
  • Mix again.
  • Keep steering this constantly once you see that the mixture is not sticking the pan and lumping up, turn the heat off and add the cardamom powder.
  • Mix this and let the dough mixture cool down slightly.
  • While its still warm, make small peda shapes from the dough and insert one almond on top for garnishing.
  • Let the peda cool down completely before serving.
  • Yummy kesar padha is ready.
