The Belgian was flawless in his performance on the 25.3km circuit, going into the hot seat with just the yellow jersey of Tadej Pogačar(UAE Team Emirates) to wait for, his win confirmed with Pogačar finishing 12 seconds behind to take second.
Primož Roglič (Red Bull BORA-Hansgrohe) came in third at 34 seconds down on Evenepoel while reigning Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard (Visma Lease-a-Bike) was fourth, a further three seconds behind Roglič.

A first race against the clock for the riders meant a shakeup at the top of the general classification, with Evenepoel reducing his deficit to 33 seconds behind Pogačar while Vingegaard slid in the other direction to now sit a minute and 15 seconds off the yellow jersey.
"It’s crazy," Evenepoel said after the stage.
"I was on a good day. The climb was pretty tough, because I wanted to start fast but I wanted to keep something. The descent was technical and fast, you have to do it well.
"I enjoyed every metre of this TT. Coming out with the win is amazing so I'm super happy."
The stage victory gives Evenepoel a complete time trial palmares, now holding stage wins in the discipline at all three Grand Tours, along with a world title and European title.
It looked to be in doubt at one point when he slowed up with a suspected puncture, but fortunately for him it was only a false alarm.
"I was pretty sure I had a puncture," he said.
"Maybe somebody from the public dropped a glass or hit a fence - it made the same sound as a puncture! I was a bit scared, but after few metres I knew nothing was wrong."
