A woman named Manisha Rattan has been found dead inside her house in Melbourne's north.
Manisha who hailed from Amritsar, Punjab was living in Australia from last eight years.
Suspecting foul play in her death, parents are seeking India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj’s intervention in this case.
Manisha’s mother told Jagbani TV that her daughter was in an inter-caste relationship that turned out in a love-cum-arranged marriage.
“We had this information from a friend who passed on the news of her sad demise. She is survived by an eight month child,” she said.
“We seek [India’s external affairs minister] Sushma Swaraj’s intervention in this case.SBS Punjabi has contacted two of Manisha’s friends who knew her from last four years.

“She was a brave girl. The people who are in her close circle won’t believe that she took her own life,” said a friend who wants to be anonymous.
“She had a loving husband. They make a perfect couple. If you check her Facebook posts from last few months you’d know how much they loved each other.
“It’s a sad end to such a precious life. My heart goes out for her family especially the eight month child who is left behind without her mother.
Police told SBS Punjabi that her death is not suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
