732 Australians have been inducted into the 2025 Order of Australia Honours. Alongside high profile public figures are unsung heroes recognised for contributions to their community. Among them, pioneers of social change and champions of community empowerment.


Key Points
  • Prominent First Nations constitutional legal expert and co-chair of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, Professor Megan Davis, is among them - while prominent First Nations activist Yunupingu has been named posthumously with the highest honour.
  • Former Human Rights commissioner Gillian Triggs and former High Court Justice James Edelman have also been awarded the Companion of Order of Australia. The late cabinet minister Kevin Andrews was awarded for service to public life, while parra athlete Matthew Formston was also honoured.
  • One of the many community heroes awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia is Abla Tohamy Kadous, responsible for setting up Australia's first welfare service for Muslim women.
