Actor Michael K. Williams (The Wire) leaves scripts behind as he takes on what VICELAND calls ‘his most personal project to date’. With Black Market, Williams takes a look at underground economies in America and beyond. He meets people who are willing to break the law and risk everything they have just to get by. While digging into the topics, Williams discusses his own issues with addiction, crime and poverty. The black markets explored in the series include South African fishermen who rely on poaching to survive and an opioid-based cough syrup that is becoming popular in the United States.
Fringe Nation: Extremists in America
As the US becomes increasingly polarised, the limitations of its opposing sides are pushed to their extremes. How will the voices and actions of those at the fringes impact on the country? Reporter Gianna Toboni examines the roots of the self-described ‘militias’ whose heretofore ‘fringe’ beliefs have evolved into having a disproportionate and potentially irreversible impact on the United States.
