“I think we can speak of relief," Philipsen said after the stage.

"Last week wasn't great for us. Maybe we didn't approach the Tour in our best condition, but we're improving and we can finally show what we came for.

"Today we knew that the last corner could be tricky and we took it well. I was launched perfectly. I'm happy with the way we're starting this second week. We are already on the tenth stage and we had done five sprints without winning, it was too many."

On what was a very relaxed day for the peloton, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) remained in the yellow jersey for the eighth day so far at the Tour de France, Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) remaining in second and Jonas Vingegaard (Visma Lease-a-Bike) in third.
On what was a very relaxed day for the peloton in their first stage back after a rest day, there was no real breakaway and the pace was very low, until the final 10 kilometres when the sprint teams came together.

Alpecin-Deceuninck were in control right from the start, with van der Poel expertly guiding Philipsen into the flamme rouge and launching a powerful leadout for the Belgian to sprint home.

The Tour de France continues tonight with Stage 11, the second mountains test for the peloton with 211km from Evaux-les-Bains to Le Lioran. Watch the action from 7:10pm AEST on SBS On Demand and the Tour Tracker app before coverage on SBS begins from 8:30pm.
