From Barkaa performing at Vivid to Jem Cassar-Daley taking out song of the year at the Queensland Music Awards, Blak women are powerhouses when it comes to the music industry.
This year, The Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA) are celebrating women in music, particularly First Nations and culturally diverse artists.
AWMA are opening their doors again for talented female artists to be nominated.
The award categories cover all genres, from rap to rock and the many important behind-the-scenes roles in the music industry.
Last year, Cerisa Benjamin took out the Diversity in Music Award. Ripple Effect band were a finalist for the category.
Jessica Mauboy was a finalist for the Artistic Excellence Award, Jem Cassar-Daley was a finalist for the Emerging Artist Award and Candice Lorae was a finalist for the Studio Production Award.
This year’s Awards Ceremony and Concert will be in Meanjin (Brisbane) on Wednesday 2 October 2024.
