'Culture mirrors life': History and cultural significance of Gai Jatra in Nepal

This year, Gai Jatra was celebrated on Tuesday, 20 August in Nepal. Known as 'Sa Paru' in the Newari language, this festival is observed in memory of loved ones. Cultural expert Tejeshwar Babu Gwanga says the ways of celebrating this festival have changed over time. Gwanga spoke to SBS Nepali about the history and cultural significance of Gai Jatra.
