"When I came to Australia I was 26, today I'm 87."

Silvana Fachin, born on 16 July 1933 in Prico di Prato Carnico, in the province of Udine, left Genoa with her mother and siblings on the Oceania on 19 December 1959. They landed in Fremantle on 19 January. of 1960. This is her story.

Silvana grew up in Prico and at 16 she went to work in Ravenna. Later she emigrated with her family to Cooma, where her sister, who moved to Australia with her husband, already lived. She stayed for a few years in Cooma, before moving to Canberra, where she met her husband Gino, who unfortunately passed away less than a year ago.
