From January 7th, Adriano Stendardo has taken office at the Italian Consulate in Adelaide, previously held by Roberta Ronzitti.
Born in Friuli, but raised in Tuscany and Lazio, he has just arrived for the first time in Australia with his wife. He says he found many familiar touches and was warmly welcomed by our compatriots.
"For me it is a huge honour, a great privilege and responsibility to be able to represent our homeland in a country that is very far away, but at the same time closely tied to Italy by traditions, history and culture," he told SBS Italian.
Stendardo also said he feels very close to all those who have been affected by the bushfires and that he will dedicate his mandate, among other things, to all young Italians who arrive in Adelaide for study and research purposes.
