We all know elections in Australia are about to take place this year, but when exactly?


Unlike in the United States or in other countries, where a beater date has been set, Australian federal elections do not have a fixed date.

A federal election occurs when the Prime Minister decides to do so, with the approval of the governor-general, within about three years after the last election.
