Indian woman’s wedding jewellery worth $60,000 stolen in Melbourne

Victim of burglary, Pooja has made an emotional plea to the community to keep their belongings safe.

An Indian-origin woman called Melbourne’s on Monday noon and told the host of the show, Tom Elliot about robbery at her house when the family was out.

The victim, who identified herself as Pooja, said her home in Monash was broken into over the weekend.

She said she lost jewellery worth $60,000 which was gifted by her parents at her wedding.

"We've lost everything Tom." she said.

Pooja said the jewellery included 24 carat necklaces and rings.

She made an emotional plea to the community, urging people to keep their beloved belongings safe.

"It's happening everywhere...we are not feeling secure here...I want to send a message to the people, please secure yourselves...don't keep your belongings or precious things at home"

She said that Victoria Police was aware of the incident.

“The police told us there have been 100 robberies in Monash recently. We would like people to be more secure. Don’t keep your precious things at home,” she told .
