Australian dream

The transition wasn't easy. Abi arrived with little more than a dream and a scant amount of pocket money. Relying on the kindness of relatives, she scraped together enough to make the journey. But the road ahead was filled with challenges. It took two weeks to secure employment, during which she struggled to make ends meet.

With only $30, she faced adversity head-on. She adjusted her lifestyle, even shedding 15 kilos because of saving. "I took it positively," she reflects, showing her resilience in the face of hardship.

Despite moments of doubt and homesickness, she found solace in her passion for music. Busking became her side hustle, a way to both express herself and earn a living.

Her journey isn't just about survival but about thriving. While studying, she landed a job as a reservation officer at a prestigious hotel while honing her culinary skills as a commis chef. Her talent didn't go unnoticed as she's also become a beloved figure in Melbourne's busking scene, known for her infectious energy and captivating performances.

Despite facing challenges like mic snatchers and theft, Abi remains undeterred. She stands out with her vibrant outfits, engaging storytelling, and heartfelt performances. "When I sing, I sing with heart," she says, describing her unique approach to busking.
