This dessert makes it look like you’re breathing fire

The sweet snack creates the effect with liquid nitrogen – but proceed with caution.

Dragon's Breath

Never felt the urge to breath fire? Understandable. Sounds painful, eh. But this might change your mind.

The world is getting excited about a dessert that looks like unicorn-friendly puffed cereal.

The colourful balls have been flooding social media recently after several US cafes started selling the dessert that makes breathing ‘smoke’ easy. Dragon’s Breath is a dessert made from balls of puffed cereal, often served on sticks, and every experimental foodie’s favourite plaything – liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is poured over the cereal balls, creating an effect similar to dry ice, or mist on a frosty morning. Once eaten, the liquid nitrogen is blown out of mouths and nostrils, hence the name Dragon’s Breath. Unsurprisingly, the dessert has received a lot of attention on Instagram.
It's not confined to the US, though.
As pretty as it looks, consuming liquid nitrogen unfortunately doesn’t come without risks. Dragon’s Breath consumers have reported burnt tongues and mouth pain as result of not allowing the liquid nitrogen to dissolve enough – liquid nitrogen being a potentially toxic chemical after all.

This may be one of those instances where looking at videos on Instagram might be safer than the real thing.
