For many of us, a cup o' joe from to our local cafe can be an escape from the daily grind, an opportunity to catch up with friends, or even an integral part of our morning ritual. But unfortunately the plastic-coated paper cups from your favourite express coffee cart aren't so good for the environment.
, and often, those that are aren't disposed correctly. And though there are KeepCups and other reusable mugs on the market, they're not as convenient to use.
But one cafe in South Africa has come up with a creative and delicious solution. And it's taking over Instagram.
What is it? It's coffee served in a chocolate-lined waffle cone.
The Grind Coffee Company in Johannesburg developed the innovative and eco-friendly concept. The process of creating the perfect leak-proof cone took a lot of trial-and-error, reports .
The only drawback is you'll only have ten minutes to drink your beverage before it melts.
Instagram has nearly one million #CoffeeInACone hashtagged photos of the quirky coffee, with that number growing rapidly every day. The coffee company says it's thankful for all the social media love.
However, Grind Coffee Company isn't the only place to offer the new sensation. Though the South African cafe originated the idea in January, a few New York-based cafes, including Coffee Project NY, have adopted the waffle-coned coffee for their own customers.
At present Grind Coffee Company offers its coffee in four different types of chocolate cones, and are in the process of patenting their flavours.
It's clearly only a matter of time 'til the #CoffeeInACone trend reaches our sunburnt shores. But until then, check out more pictures of these gorgeous steaming cones of coffee below.
