We’ll discover Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s commitment to getting the details right in order to showcase this incredible moment in history, for all the world to see.
Taking a Stand
As the tagline states, 'In the shadow of war, one man showed the world what we stand for'. This featurette is all about that one man: James Donovan, as portrayed by Tom Hanks. We’ll dive deep into his character, getting an up-close view at the insurance lawyer from Brooklyn. We’ll discover how he was thrust into the centre of the Cold War with the near impossible task of defending an accused Russian Spy. We’ll see how, in the face of all adversity, he chose to take the difficult path and to stand by his convictions. And then we’ll highlight his efforts to free not one but two Americans captured by communist forces, refusing to back down, believing that every life matters.
Spielberg and Spies
One thing that’s clear from all of the existing EPK interviews: Steven Spielberg is the only director that could’ve pulled off the incredible chess game that is Bridge of Spies. We’ll find out why he was instantly attracted to the material from the very beginning.
