Iron Chef
Yes, this is the Iron Chef you know and love! All the action of this seminal cooking competition show from Japan, hosted by the fabulous Chairman (Takeshi) Kaga, takes place in Kitchen Stadium. A challenger takes on one of three of Japan’s top chefs, aka, Iron Chefs. Both chefs have one hour to prepare as many dishes as they can, and all must feature a special ingredient, dramatically unveiled by Chairman Kaga. A panel of judges then scrupulously samples all the dishes to decide the winner. It’s all so exciting! Remember the commentators and the roving reporter? We cannot wait to welcome back the unique brilliance of the one and only Iron Chef!
Tin Star
Tim Roth plays former detective Jim Worth in this intense and compelling Canadian crime drama. Having fled Liverpool for a new life with his wife and daughter, this third and final season sees the family return to the UK and face the sinister truth they ran from. The UK and all that awaits them there makes their life in the Rockies seem very faint, very quickly, but twenty years away is long enough. Fans of this show will be sad it’s the final season, but what quality it’s given us.

It had to happen, really.

Letterkenny special – season 7 final episode

Life on the Outside
With half the 40,000 people incarcerated in Australia ending up back in jail within two years of release, Life on the Outside tries something to prevent that happening: prisoners are placed into ordinary households for the first 100 days of their release. This ground-breaking three-part series commissioned by SBS is hosted by actor and Shine for Kids Ambassador, Danielle Cormack.

The Responder

But as the crises pile on, it’s tough going.
Inspired by the real-life experiences of former police officer, creator Tony Schumacher, The Responder gives us an authentic insight into facing society’s underbelly. Freeman’s gritty performance as Chris is one of his most compelling. Adelayo Adedayo, Ian Hart and MyAnna Buring also star.

Pagan Peak
As per The Bridge, German series Pagan Peak kicked off with a mangled body found positioned on either side of the border with Austria. The investigators, one from each country, hunted down the killer in the end. But crime never sleeps, so our odd coupling of dedicated professional, German officer Ellie Stocker (Julia Jentsch) and scruffy gruff Austrian inspector Gedeon Winter (Nicholas Ofczarek) are back. There’s a new kid in police town, learning from Ellie, and another serial killer to be brought to justice.

Teachers
With a similar premise to New Zealand’s , Teachers is a UK sitcom about four teachers more interested in after-work drinks and locating a love life than their high school students. Made from 2001–04, we follow workmates Simon (Andrew Lincoln), Susan (Raquel Cassidy, Downton Abbey), Kurt (Navin Chowdhry) and Brian (Adrian Bower) and Simon’s crush, the humourless super-teacher Jenny (Nina Sosanya). Look out for a baby-faced James Cordon as dedicated student Jeremy. It’s a good laff.
The Cook Up with Adam Liaw
Join Adam and his special guests who cook a variety of meals together all while sharing their favourite culinary tips. Expect just as much fun, culture and delicious food as Adam offered up in season 1.

The Spectacular
In the 1980s, the IRA attacked British military personnel stationed in the Netherlands. At the same time, an IRA volunteer infiltrated the inner circle of legendary bomber Declan Moore, at the behest of MI5, in an attempt to quell further imminent attacks on mainland Europe. This four-part Dutch spy thriller is inspired by those true events, and features Dutch, German, English and French languages. The two women leads – investigator Jeanine Maes (Hadewych Minis) and IRA member Fiona Hughes (Aoibhínn McGinnity), guide us through the gripping tension. Riveting stuff.
