Audience hunger for premium original drama is never-ending, which is why SBS continues to prove itself as a major destination for the best dramas from across the globe. 

For its 2018 lineup SBS has announced 5 original scripted series launching throughout the year, along with an ever-building library of great international shows.

Many of your favourite shows will be returning in 2018, including The Good Fight, Vikings, The Missing, The Bridge, and Cardinal.

Award winning actors Joel JacksonEwen Leslie, and The Vampire Diaries/The Originals star Phoebe Tonkin star as part of a group of friends who set sail on a yacht, enjoying a sun and surf holiday from Darwin to Indonesia. They spot an overcrowded fishing boat filled with distressed asylum seekers on the horizon and after a heated discussion and vote, the Captain makes the call to tow the boat back to Australia. A violent storm forces them to change course back to Indonesia and they wake the next morning to find the asylum boat gone. It's not until five years later when one of the friends steps in a taxi driven by one of the refugees that they learn the truth – someone on the yacht cut the rope between the two boats, leaving the asylum seekers in the storm. Also staring Nicole ChamounLeeanna WalsmanHazem Shammas.

Dead Lucky

Internationally acclaimed actress Rachel Griffiths plays Detective Sergeant Grace Gibbs, obsessed with catching the armed robber who murdered her junior officer. Her new trainee, Constable Charlie Fung (Yoson An), blames Grace for the death of his best friend. Meanwhile, a share house of international students think they have found paradise. A couple of greedy convenience store owners resort to deadly measures to defend their business. While on the outskirts of the city, a violent fugitive is hiding. Over one week, the paths of these characters collide, leaving two people dead and one missing.

The Handmaid's Tale - Season 2

Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale follows the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Elisabeth Moss stars alongside Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O.T. Fagbenle, Max Minghella, and Samira Wiley.

Knightfall

February 2018
From the creative minds of Don Handfield and Richard Rayner, Knightfall chronicles the mysterious but true accounts of the Knights Templar, the elite warriors of the Crusades. It delves into the great secrets protected by the Templars and tells the story of faith, loyalty and brotherhood that help sustain these warriors on the battlefield, and the dark events that would forever sear the infamous date of Friday the 13th into the world's psyche.

Homecoming Queens

From the brilliant minds of co-writers and co-creators Michelle Law and Chloë Reeson comes the semi-autobiographical dramedy Homecoming Queens. After chronic illnesses overturn their expectations of life and youth, twenty-something best friends Michelle and Chloë reinvent themselves, changing their friendship and their futures. Law stars in the series as Michelle, while Liv Hewson (Top of the Lake: China Girl) plays Chloë. The SBS On Demand original online series will be available as a 60 minute special and 7 x 8 minute episodes in 2018.
