Deliver Us takes place in a Danish provincial town that on the surface looks like most other small towns. There is the school, the library, the medical practice, Balling’s chicken farm and the pub Syveren. But the town also has Mike: a young man that terrorises them. In the beginning his ways are subtle, but over time his boundless behaviour, stripped of any morals, is obvious. When it seems that Mike has killed an innocent boy and gotten away with it, a group of people in the local community are struck by this crime without punishment. They believe evil has taken root in the town, and powerlessness has blended with fear. They live very different lives in town but they all have one thing in common: Mike is ruining their lives. Together they decide to take up the battle to get rid of what (who) they believe to be the source of the town's misery. They vow to carry out the perfect murder, unaware that when you start to play God, you risk ending up becoming the Devil.

Deliver Us draws us into the townsfolk's real pain: their grief for what you have lost or could never have; and their various forms of unrequited, unfulfilled or failed love. It examines the cost of a primal need to protect those we love, and the impact of vengeance borne of unbearable grief. What happens when the system fails you? When you feel entitled to take another human’s life? In the words of the creators Christian Torpe and Marie Østerbye, "then you open dangerous doors. But you also open up for something powerful, a feeling of taking control over your own life. That’s the foundation of the series, to discover the shades and grey tones that appears in the human mind, when things aren’t just either beautiful or ugly, good or evil."Deliver Us is a series about what happens when people let their innermost primitive instincts take over – with revenge, hatred and wrath. At the same time, it’s a story about love: About how far we are willing to go to protect those we love.
