It has been a tumultuous time for Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans. First it got cancelled, then it didn't. We were all on a roller-coaster of emotion.
But, it is coming back and we have a list of everything you need to know about its return:
1) Most importantly: It's coming back to SBS VICELAND!!!
In the US, the show was cancelled by FOX and revived by NBC. The switch of network had people in Australia wondering if it would change anything here. But rest assured, Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be back at its Australian home in 2019 on SBS VICELAND and at SBS On Demand.
2) The fast-tracking continues
Your pals here at SBS VICELAND love Brooklyn Nine-Nine as much as you do. There's no way that we're going to hold the show back if we can avoid it.
As soon as we get the show in the building... BAM! It gets loaded straight into the SBS On Demand servers, ready for you to start watching. And then we put it on the SBS VICELAND broadcast channel for those of you who like watching it that way, on a schedule so it will be there for you at the time you're used to watching it every week.
3) The show will be back in early 2019
We don't have an exact date for you yet, but as soon as they announce its return date in the US, we'll pass on word.
4) They just started filming season 6 this week
On Monday Andy Samberg, by way of , published some pictures of the first day back on set.
5) The show you fell in love with is coming back
Showrunner Dan Goor appeared at the Television Critics Association summer press tour and told journalists that the change from FOX to NBC isn't going to change the show.
6) This year the show will try to explore #metoo
Terry Crews, known to audiences as the very fit NYPD Sergeant Terry Jeffords, came out earlier this year as a victim of sexual assault. Crews told the : "It's about freedom and being able to tell your story. One thing that influenced me was being here and feeling safe and having friends and family on this show that I felt secure enough that I could tell my truth and still go to work. And it made a difference. Each and every person is standing up here right now because it gave me strength to do that — along with all the women who came forward in the #MeToo movement where I got all my strength from."
Dan Goor explained that while they want to try to do it, stories like that are difficult for a sitcom to do properly: "[They] still have to feel true to what the show is and still feel funny — but still give weight to the issue and explore it in a fair way."
If they can find a way to do it, it's going to happen.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns to SBS VICELAND at 8:30pm on Friday 11 January and streaming at SBS On Demand!
