Starring Glenn Close, Noomi Rapace and Willem Dafoe, this 2017 film sets a set of septuplets the challenge of avoiding notice by the government, as their very being breaks the rules of the day: one child per family due to overpopulation. Billy Connolly: Made In Scotland – Tuesday 13 and 20 December, 8.30pm
In this two-part special, we discover what made Billy Connolly the welder into Billy Connolly the comedian who changed the face of British comedy forever. His peers have called him the Beatles of comedy; the leader of the Scottish Zion Baptist Church dubbed him ‘manure mouth’. Whatever your thoughts, we all want to know him. Enriched by interviews with prominent personalities, including Ross Noble, Tracey Ullman, Eddie Izzard and Val McDermid, the special showcases Connolly’s far reach and unique and personal approach to comedy, all these decades on. He also returns to Scotland and discovers that knitted woolly swimmers were not a figment of his vivid childhood imagination.

Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail – from Tuesday 27 December, 8.30pm
In this three-part series, Connolly traces famous Scots across America. From New York to Nashville, he follows their migratory trail, discovering pilgrims and the parents of presidents. He visits Ellis Island, the site of Woodstock and the Grand Ole Opry, among other iconic landmarks, meeting a diverse range of Americans both on and far off the beaten track. With his vibrant curiosity and insightful perspective on the heritage of immigration that makes up today’s US population, this is a super fun educational trip.
