It has been an action-packed year for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine crew. Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) and Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) hid out in witness protection, Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) battled racial profiling on the force and Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) survived getting hit by a bus.
And, because that’s not enough, Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) got everyone excited for a quickie wedding that didn’t happen, and Charles Boyle’s (Jo Lo Truglio) obsession with Jake and Amy Santiago’s (Melissa Fumero) relationship only expanded. Plus, the entire gang battled bureaucracy to save their precinct from getting shut down permanently. They’ve been busy.
Indeed, with the last episodes of the show’s fourth season upon us, only one thing is certain: where Brooklyn Nine-Nine is concerned, expect the unexpected. Here are five burning questions we have for the season finale.

How will Jake and Rosa cope with their new boss’ dirty tricks?
Last we saw Jake and Rosa, their policing dreams had come true, only to be dashed almost instantly. After working on an undercover case with the legendary Lieutenant Melanie Hawkins (Gina Gershon), they had both been rewarded with spots on her task force — and while they initially fought over one vacancy, they ultimately impressed her with their teamwork. Alas, they soon discovered Hawkins isn’t the hero they think. In fact, she couldn’t be more corrupt. What will they do next? Neither is the type likely to handle Hawkins’ duplicity and dirty tricks well, but they’ll definitely be driven to expose her double-dealings.
Is the gang breaking up?
In order to bring Hawkins down, Jake and Rosa will have to stay on her team and out of the Nine-Nine. What does this mean for the rest of the gang? How will Charles and Amy cope? After spending so long fighting to stay together — first, trying to get Jake and Captain Holt out of witness protection, then surviving the threat of being closed down for good — can the group weather this latest storm? We’re hoping Jake and Rosa will enlist their pals for help, but their time away from their main base is going to have a toll.

Will Amy or Terry get rewarded for their hard work?
While much of the season has focused on keeping everyone together, professional progression has also remained a recurring theme. Amy took the sergeant’s exam to chase her dreams of moving up in the ranks, while Terry looked to take on new responsibilities, only to see his efforts thwarted after standing up against racist behaviour from a colleague. Will either get to take the next step? While we’re all wondering how Jake and Rosa’s new career moves will impact the squad, will the show send someone else off on a different path? Brooklyn Nine-Nine is known for its cliffhangers and for its misdirection when it comes to big moments, after all.
Is Boyle's baby obsession going to rub off?
After becoming a father to the adopted Nikolaj, Charles Boyle has been baby crazy. He talks about his new son constantly, he tries to offer parenting advice to Terry, and he was absolutely thrilled with Jake and Amy had to play babysitter (a little too thrilled, actually, but that’s Boyle). All of this kid talk could just be Boyle being himself or Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s writers could have something up their sleeves. We’ve seen Jake’s maturity grow in leaps and bounds since he started dating Amy, so could this be the next step? Or with one of the cast members pregnant in reality, will art imitate life?
How many times will Jake mention Die Hard?
Even if you’ve only caught a few episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, you’ve no doubt discovered Jake’s favourite movie: Die Hard. He likes to mention it whenever he can, and given that he’s a New York cop like John McClane, he gets plenty of opportunities. Now that he’s caught in the middle of a crisis, including trying to bring down a threat to the city from the inside, we can only imagine he’ll invoke Bruce Willis’s famous character quite often. To be fair, we expect every real-life police officer in the city must find themselves continually fighting the same urge.
