In dark times, it's nice to know that we have each other - and at least one lesbian - to help lift us up.
Such has been the case this week, as social media users grapple to comprehend the international threat posed by COVID-19 without spiraling into panic and despair.
Thankfully, the shared one particularly reassuring photo from their emergency operations centre, shining a light on those battling to overcome the coronavirus - including one very in-control looking lesbian.
“First relief I’ve felt on the US COVID-19 response is the CDC posting this picture from their emergency operations centre showing there is at least one lesbian with a keychain neck lanyard that jangles when she walks on the job,” Tabor Bain tweeted, sharing the photo.
The tweet soon blew up, getting over 12,000 likes and more than 1,500 retweets. One Twitter user to respond happened to be the woman depicted in the photo, Jen Bronemann.
"Proudly fighting the good fight with my lanyard," she tweeted in response, adding the hashtag '#WashYourHands'.
"This is the very first time a post I've done has taken off and I have not muted it almost immediately on realising that was happening because the @-s are absolutely delightful and full of lesbians who should all date," Bain wrote in a follow-up tweet.
While some users took issue with Bain's assumption of Bornemann's gender and sexual identity, most took it with the intended good humour - particularly because Bain's assumptions were, it seems, correct.
“...Every person that’s been like ‘how do you know she’s a lesbian how DARE you make assu-‘ has been promptly met by a firm butch going ‘hon. she’s family. I am not going to explain this to you,'” Bain joked.
He added that he was "sincerely chuffed at the apparent universality of trusting a lesbian with a lanyard."
