Actor Taron Egerton has opened up about the intimate scenes he shared with co-star Richard Madden in Rocketman, the forthcoming Sir Elton John biopic.
Egerton, who has previously starred in films including Kingsman: The Secret Service, plays Sir Elton in the film, opposite Madden, who plays the icon's manager, John Reid.
Speaking to , Egerton revealed that he and Madden had gotten "quite physical" in one of the film's love scenes.
"I probably shouldn’t be telling you this but we have a sex scene," he said. "[But] we went to some places and got quite physical."
Egerton added: "I’ve watched it back and I think it looks great."
"The grown-up nature of the film, combined with it being a musical, makes it feel quite zeitgeisty," the actor continued.
"I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this but it’s basically about Elton in rehab, so we’re not watering anything down."
Egerton had previously addressed rumours of a sex scene in the film, telling : "I really threw myself into it, I filmed my first sex scene for this film and it’s with quite a well known man."
While Bohemian Rhapsody drew criticism from part of the LGBTIQ+ community for not being celebratory enough of Freddie Mercury's bisexuality, Egerton insists Rocketman is explicitly gay.
“I do feel the movie we shot is absolutely a celebration of everything that Elton John is and part of that is his sexuality. I actually think the gay community will be quite surprised by quite how gay it feels. I’ve loved every second of it."
He added: “I’m not someone who is remotely perturbed by male intimacy and I am quite proud of what we’ve done with it. We really went some places with it.”
