It's fast becoming a highlight of grand slam tennis season - seeing what Serena Williams will wear on court.
And the 23-time grand slam winner didn't disappoint at Roland Garros, wearing a statement outfit designed by her long-time collaborator Virgil Abloh for Nike.
The 10th-seeded player stepped onto Philippe-Chatrier Court wearing an outfit with four French words: mere, championne, reine, deesse (mother, champion, queen, goddess).
Williams, who gave birth to her daughter Olympia in September 2017, continues to make statements since her return to tennis from maternity leave. In 2018, she returned to tennis in a black catsuit to last year's French Open in a tribute to mothers recovering from a tough pregnancy.
"Catsuit anyone? For all the moms out there who had a tough recovery from pregnancy—here you go. If I can do it, so can you. Love you all!!," she wrote at the time. But that wasn't going to slow down Williams' style. She then stepped out at the US Open in a tutu, which some suspect was a response to , who stated some outfits would be banned at the next tournament.Despite the restrictions on French Open outfits this year, it looks like Williams has found another way to make a statement, while giving a shoutout to all the mothers who are goddesses and queens.

Chasing Margaret Court's record of 24 grand slam titles, Williams is manifesting victory with her new look - and she is off to a good start, with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory over 83rd-ranked Vitalia Diatchenko.
