Clang clang clang went the trolley...
A full-length trailer has been released for the highly anticipated Judy Garland biopic, aptly titled Judy, starring Oscar-winner Renee Zelwegger.
The movie, which is due for release in September, depicts Garland during the last months of her life as she prepares for a sold-out concert run in London - and all the struggles that come with it.
And, safe to say, movie-goers are already being blown away by Zelwegger's transformation.
“As she prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians, and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through,” the film’s description reads.
“Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. And yet Judy is fragile.
"After working for 45 of her 47 years, she is exhausted; haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood; gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids. Will she have the strength to go on?”
In the lead-up to what will likely be an intense Awards Season campaign, Zellweger last week found the time for at London Pride, debuting the Judy trailer and delivering a heartfelt speech about the LGBTIQ+ community.
“Can I just take a second for appreciation and acknowledgement of the courage and the suffering and the struggle of all of those over the last 50-plus years in the fight for what we all know are fundamental human rights,” she told the crowd.
“God bless them, and God bless everyone of you here today! Can I get an ’Amen’!”
