Tasmania's very own Hannah Gadsby has topped Australia's 'Pride Power List' for 2019, joining numerous well-known figures from sport, business and politics, including politican Penny Wong, actor and model Ruby Rose and Qantas CEO Alan Joyce.
"Australia is an open and tolerant society, and the 2017 legislation for equal marriage is emblematic of the amazing strides the country has made towards LGBTIQ+ equality in recent years," the list's publisher, Linda Riley, said.
She continued: "However, the fact remains that discrimination still exists in the workplace and in wider society as a whole, and we believe that - by shining a light on those whose achievements further the cause of LGBTIQ+ equality - we can play our part in helping to eradicate to scourge of discrimination."
The list's publication coincided with the third Australian LGBTI Awards, which took place last week.
