Hannah Gadsby has emerged from the world's shortest ever retirement, announcing that she'll soon embark on a new international tour.
The new show Douglas, named after her beloved dog, is the follow-up to Gadbsy's critically acclaimed Nanette and will tour Australia, the US and UK.
Speaking to , Gadsby said the unexpected success of Nanette had inspired her to use her newfound voice - not retire from comedy, as she'd stated in the show.
"I feel like I had every opportunity thrown at me at once [after Nanette]," she said in the interview.
"Everyone wanted a piece of this pie, so to speak. And I thought after some time that perhaps my best next move would be to do something that is what I'm really good at."
Gadsby explained why she felt compelled to hit the road once more.
"There's a certain amount of comfort in going back on stage in an environment that I'm somewhat familiar with — although it's my first US tour. It's still new. After what I did with Nanette, I'm not going backwards; I'm going to keep pushing forwards — and probably upsetting some comedy purists again. We can't please everyone!"
