Prominent Youtuber Elijah Daniel decided he wanted to find the easiest way to hold political office, tweeting: “if Donald Trump, a REALITY STAR can be our president there's no reason why I can't be a politician…
Daniel spent just two days calling towns in the United States before finding the small community of Hell, Michigan.
“As of today, August 30th, 2017 I am the legal mayor of Hell, Michigan. This is real. I am the mayor of Hell,” Daniel tweeted, alongside a photo of an official proclamation.
His first order of business as the Acting Mayor of Hell was to ban heterosexuals from entering the tiny midwestern town.
“Growing up, I was always told that homosexuals would go to Hell, now the heterosexuals are trying to take this from us too,” Daniel wrote in a declaration.
“I am establishing new vetting measures to keep radical heterosexuals out of our town. We want to ensure that we are not admitting into our town the very heterosexual threats we are fighting against."
“The straights coming into our town, procreating, having more straight children to take our rightfully gay jobs," he continued.
"We only want to admit those into our town who will support our town and love deeply our people. I currently feel as if it would just be safer to ban all heterosexuality until we can access the situation further and build a strategy to resolve our problem."
Daniel goes on to describe a reparative therapy program for heterosexual residents who would like to denounce their sexuality.
Those who do not participate “will be required to wear a scarlet H and meet in the town centre at 5:30am every morning to be publicly straight-shamed.”
The newly appointed mayor received immediate backlash from Michiganians who labelled him a 'hetereophobe'.
Daniel has since been impeached from the role of mayor but has pointed what would have been a more appropriate title for his groundbreaking political stint, and left office with some choice words for US President Donald Trump.
