Disney cartoon Star vs. the Forces of Evil has shown same-sex couples kissing during a concert scene.

In the episode ‘Just Friends’ from Season 2 of the show, the main characters are pictured watching a boy band perform a romantic ballad.

Overcome with emotion, the entire audience begins embracing their partner, with a number of same-sex couples shown making out in the crowd.

It’s the first time a same-sex kiss has been depicted in a Disney cartoon, with the network allegedly having an unofficial ban on LGBT issues until 2014 when a gay couple appeared in sitcom Good Luck Charlie.
While fans of the show were disappointed that the main character Star didn’t get to kiss her best friend Marco, many commenters on Youtube praised Disney for including same-sex couples in the episode.

“Honestly it's so nice Disney isn't only sticking to straight couples,” one user wrote.

Another said: “There's a handful of gay couples in the crowd, that makes me very happy.”

Star vs. the Forces of Evil was created by Daron Nefcy, the second woman to create an animated TV series for Disney.
