The Kentucky Ark Encounter Park has announced that it will permanently light up a ‘life size’ Noah’s Ark in rainbow colours in an attempt to reclaim the iconic gay symbol.
The theme park first began illuminating the ark for Christmas last year but have decided that they needed to ramp up their efforts to discredit the association.
Ken Ham, president of the park and Young Earth Creationist says that the rainbow has been rudely appropriated by the LBGT+ movement and the original meaning of the symbol needs to be restored.

“Sadly, people ignore what God intended the rainbow to represent and proudly wave rainbow-coloured flags in defiance of God’s command and design for marriage.
“Because of this, many Christians shy away from using the rainbow colours. But the rainbow was a symbol of God’s promises before the LGBTQ movement—and will continue to be after that movement has ended.
“As Christians, we need to take the rainbow back and teach our young people its true meaning.”
The park also features a ‘Fossil Find’ where children can learn about science from a Christian perspective as well as donkey and camel rides—so you can imagine you live in Biblical times.
Employees of the park have to sign a ‘creation statement’ that says they agree that God created the world 6,000 years ago, and with Bible teachings on sexual morality.
Obviously, the giant rainbow ark has only provided opportunities for the Creationist park to be gloriously trolled online, infuriating fans of the original rainbow.
One Facebook user commented on Ken Ham’s status: “Thank you for supporting the LGBT community by displaying the rainbow on your boat. That is a wonderful change coming from the single book crowd.”
“Great to see you've seen the light and are supporting our LGTB community,” another wrote.
All the best to them in their ambitious endeavour to reclaim the rainbow. We're sure it will go great.
