Bullets star Law reveals what life was like in the NBA bubble

Star Brisbane Bullets import Vic Law has revealed what it was like inside the NBA bubble during the latest episode of SBS series – TAB Courtside 1v1.

WATCH TAB Courtside 1v1 on SBS - episode 9 - with Megan Hustwaite and Vic Law from 7 pm (AEDT) on Thursday March 4 via , or catch up via .

Chicago-born Law is enjoying his first season in the NBL after signing with the Bullets fresh from a stint with the Orlando Magic of the NBA during their restart Bubble season at the end of 2020.

A star recruit from Northwestern University, Law was the first player from the school to play in the NBA in six years.
The athletic forward also starred for Orlando G-League affiliate Lakeland Magic averaging 18 points and 8.7 rebounds.

Now playing a big role for a Bullets team still coming to terms with life without former star Lamar Patterson who this season made the move to the NZ Breakers, Law hopes he can put his full skillset on show and help Brisbane to their first title in 14 years.

In the interview set to air on Thursday night’s episode of TAB Courtside 1v1 on SBS at 7 pm (AEDT) via SBS Sport Facebook, Law spoke of his experience playing in the NBA as well as the bizarre reality which was the NBA Bubble season.

“Everyone always asks what being in the NBA Bubble was like. It was very surreal with everyone in the league based in one resort,” Law said.

“You’d be walking around and you’d run into guys such as James Harden like normal as if it was a day camp.

“It was strange because if you weren’t training or playing you’d just be stuck in your room. You had to find something that stopped you from going crazy.

“After two or three months of going between the court and your room it started to really push some people’s buttons more than others.”

While limited to only cameo roles off the bench for the Magic last season, Law said he was incredibly proud that he made it to the NBA, even if it was just for a short time.

“I felt like every time I was given an opportunity to play I was able to compete with the best of the best,” he said.

“I’m a super competitive basketball player and if nothing else, my best skill is that I always compete and I always want it.

“Having the chance to be out there in the NBA meant I was able to watch the world’s best players in action and just soak in everything I saw.

“Not a lot of people get that opportunity and to do it at such a young age is only going to help my game in the long run.”

In the full interview with host Megan Hustwaite, Law talks about what brought him to the NBL, what he hopes to achieve while playing in Australia and what the future holds.
The interview is part of an SBS series - TAB Courtside 1v1, which gives fans a chance to get to know more about the unique personalities from the NBA, WNBA, NBL and WNBL, which help shape basketball in Australia.

Hustwaite, who has been covering all levels of Australian basketball for the past 13 years as a reporter, commentator and journalist, will helm the weekly show - every Thursday at 7 pm (AEDT) via SBS Sport Facebook - where she interviews stars of the past, present and future.

SBS will again broadcast multiple regular-season NBA games per week in HD on SBS VICELAND and streamed live via SBS On Demand. Plus, every game of the upcoming 2020-21 NBL season will be LIVE, FREE and in HD via SBS On Demand, with select games also live on SBS VICELAND.
