Over the past three weeks, Geraint Thomas has barely put a cleat wrong. After 19 gruelling stages, the proud Welshman leads the 105th edition of the Tour de France by two minutes and five seconds.
Just a 31 kilometre race against the clock lies before him and Tour de France history. Wales is ready to go nuts; Team Sky, ready to breathe a collective sigh of relief.
But before the 32-year-old smooches the trophy - and probably his wife Sarah - in Paris on Sunday, Thomas will not relax.
And that's not just because he must first slip into something uncomfortable:
"As for tomorrow, I take nothing for granted," Thomas says about the time trial to come. "This buffer allows me to take less risks, but I can’t relax.
"Roglic and Dumoulin are definitely two good rivals. I just need to get out there and ride as hard as I can.
"It is a solid course. I did it three times after the Dauphiné and I saw there were very steep ramps everywhere, so you need to save energy until the very end. It feels like the eve of the Olympic final in London with a lot of tension.
It's unlikely Thomas will falter and lose the buffer he has over Dutchman Tom Dumoulin and third overall Primož Roglič (+2:24) and therefore the Tour.
The race for second and third looks more uncertain especially with the time trial skills Dumoulin, Roglič and Froome possess. Just 19 seconds separate Dumoulin and Roglič. Froome lies a further 13 seconds behind in fourth and faces his first grand tour without a podium since abandoning the 2015 Vuelta.
Dumoulin, cranky about the camera moto he said assisted Roglič on Stage 19, didn't have much to say about the upcoming time trial.
"Tomorrow will be a hard day. Everyone is super tired now so we will see," he said on his team's website.
But Roglič sounds happy about the upcoming test against the clock.
"The time trial is tailor-made for me," he said. "But it’s the same for everyone. Tomorrow it’ll be a new day and a new focus. I’m not bothered about Tom Dumoulin or Chris Froome. I’m bothered about myself."
Froome? It's just one step closer to going home.
"Time trial tomorrow but I think we're in a brilliant position with G with the yellow jersey. I mean he's feeling great and should get the job done.
"I'm looking forward to getting home. I've got a little baby girl on the way in the next few days so hopefully I make it home in time for that!"
