THE WARM-UP: Wanderers move could make derby at ANZ a reality

The Warm-up investigates the possibility of the Wanderers playing a Sydney derby at ANZ Stadium, checks in with Doctor Football, gets the 'vibe' at Sydney FC and introduces The Beatles to pay homage to Tim Cahill's latest goal-scoring exploits for the Socceroos.

Headline news

If there is one positive to come from Western Sydney Wanderers having to find somewhere else to play while its home stadium is rebuilt, it might be that we get to see just how big a crowd the Sydney derby can attract to ANZ Stadium.

There have been calls in the past for the Wanderers to move home games against Sydney FC to a bigger venue, but the club has stuck solid to Pirtek Stadium as a show of goodwill to its members.

It remains to be seen where the Wanderers will play most of its home games when they do have to move, but there is still plenty of time to decide that. The Warm-up asked Wanderers' CEO, John Tsatsimas, if ANZ Stadium for the marquee derby games against Sydney FC.

"That is one possibility we would consider. We wouldn't rule anything out at this stage as far as venues go, and we would consult with our members before we did anything," Tsatsimas said.

It is unlikely that the Wanderers would take home games against Sydney FC to its rival's home ground, Allianz Stadium, which would give the Sky Blues a distinct advantage.

All in all, it would be fascinating to see just how many people could be attracted to ANZ Stadium for such a clash, particularly if both teams were in form and the game was appropriately promoted.

What is the story behind your Twitter profile pic?

While  joined Western Sydney Wanderers from Newcastle Jets in June and  went from the Wanderers to Jets in July, their Twitter handles still say they are playing for their old clubs.

Both players must be getting flogged so hard at training that they either haven't had time or have been too tired to get around to updating their profiles.

Take it easy on them, coaches!

Doctor Football

Dear Doctor Football,

I love my football, I'm a big fan, but I'm getting worn down by these daily stories about FFA, PFA, CBA, MOU and so on. Why does everyone have to talk in abbreviations these days? Why can't it be like the old days, when we would spell things out?

Dazed And Confused, Sydney.

Dear Dazed and Confused,

OMG. FYI, people haven't got time to spell things out anymore, including us here at TWG. LOL. Anyway, BOL, DAC.

The word

Zac Anderson won an A-League championship under Graham Arnold's coaching at Central Coast Mariners and has linked up with him again at Sydney FC. Anderson is complimentary while describing the 'Arnie' affect at his new club.

"We've got some very strong team cultures put in place and we make no excuses about wanting to be bold and be the biggest club in the A-League, but at the same time we stick to our core values of working hard and the team coming first," Anderson said.

"I think that's why the team was so successful last season, because no one is bigger than the club, and the players understand that.

"Arnie has brought in some great personalities with the foreigners and Matty Simon, and even bringing Ivan Necevski back in, to increase the experience around the changeroom.

"It's a fantastic vibe around the place. I've been in a few changerooms now and this is one of the best I've been a part of."
