After the two yet again went up the road alone, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) rode away from rival Jonas Vingegaard (Visma Lease-a-Bike) and put the power down to take another emphatic solo victory at the Tour de France, this time atop Plateau de Beille.
Vingegaard continued to fade after being dropped and the defending champion crossed the line a minute and 8 seconds after Pogacar to balloon the gap between the two in the overall classification out to three minutes and 9 seconds. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) also struggled on the final climb, losing almost three minutes overall as he came in a minute and 43 seconds behind Vingegaard.

The third victory of this year's race for Pogacar and the second straight after also dominating yesterday's summit finish to Pla d'Adet, the 25-year-old looks to now have a near unassailable lead in the yellow jersey, his third Tour de France title firmly in his sights with six stages left to race.
"I was a bit on the limit when he [Vingegaard] first attacked, but afterwards I could feel he was suffering a bit," Pogacar said post-stage.
"He tried to drop me one more time and I saw he didn’t have the legs to do it, so I gave it a go myself even though I was aware I might crack as well. Luckily, it went well.
"The Tour is looking really good right now. We have a comfortable lead and just need to keep focused on these final six days of racing."
Australian Jai Hindley (Red Bull BORA-Hansgrohe) had his best ride of the race so far, getting into the early breakaway and climbing well with a select group including Richard Carapaz (EF Education EasyPost) and Enric Mas (Movistar).
Hindley remained out in front all the way onto the Plateau de Beille before the breakaway were caught by the GC favourites, in a valiant effort from the West Australian. He eventually finished the stage in 16th, 8 minutes and 44 seconds behind Pogacar.
It was a clear sign of a change of plans for Red Bull BORA-Hansgrohe after losing their team leader Primoz Roglic prior to Stage 13, with the team working hard to put Hindley in the breakaway with a chance to go for the win.
The Tour de France takes its second rest day tonight, before resuming on Tuesday with Stage 16, a flat 188.6km route from Gruissan to Nimes where the sprinters will get their last chance for a stage win. Watch the action from 8:55pm (AEST) on SBS On Demand and the Tour Tracker app, before coverage on SBS begins from 9:30pm.
