The brainchild of Ladies Tour of Norway organisers received almost immediate support and unique cooperation from the Danish Cycling Union and the organisers of the Vårgårda race in Sweden and is set for launch the same year the Tour de France departs from Copenhagen.

Sweden and Denmark will host three stages apiece then it's off to Norway for the final four stages.

Several riders in the current women's peloton enthusiastically welcomed the announcement, including The Cyclists' Alliance - a women's cycling union - communications director Director Gracie Elvin.

"I was thrilled to read about this new concept tour, as it is just what I believe women’s cycling needs to move forward," the Australian said via a Mitchelton-Scott official statement delighting in the news.
Organisers also quoted former multi-world, multi-discipline world champion Marianne Vos who will no doubt still be around to competitively race the new event in 2021.

"It’s a very exciting concept and I’m really looking forward to it," the winner of all the 2018 Ladies Tour of Norway stages said.

The new race will absorb Vårgårda and the Ladies Tour of Norway and is scheduled for August when the latter is currently held.

While organisers hope to attract the world's best riders, the new race is also a chance to nurture and showcase Scandinavian riders among their beautiful home surrounds, with a global audience in mind.

"We are planning for the world elite on site, millions of TV viewers and of course thousands of spectators along the course," Ladies Tour of Norway race director Roy Moberg said.
