Annette Edmondson was leading the team into the turn at the end of the back straight and was the only one to avoid the crash.
Behind her, Melissa Hoskins, Amy Cure, Georgia Baker and Ashlee Ankudinoff all hit the deck. With the others' worst injuries being friction burns and bruises, the most concern was reserved for Hoskins.
Annette Edmondson has tweeted that the injuries are superficial and while there is no official medical statement on Hoskins, she was back to the athlete's village by evening Rio time.
The Australian womens pursuit team is considered one of the favourites to medal when the finals roll around on Friday night (Rio time).
No news yet on if Hoskins or substitute Amy Cure will ride in the four-woman team for the three kilometre event.
Bec Wiasak is also a reserve for the track endurance squad and could be called up in need.
