A native of Miami, Florida, character actor Mel Rodriguez graduated from SUNY Purchase. He first appeared onscreen in 1999, when he was cast in an episode of "Law & Order" (NBC 1990-2010). He made several guest appearances on television in the early 00's, including stints on "Third Watch" (NBC 1999-2005), "Malcolm in the Middle" (Fox 2002-06) and "Gilmore Girls" (WB/CW 2001-08). During this period, Rodriguez was also cast in a number of feature films, including "Panic Room" (2002), "Deuces Wild" (2002) and Stephen Spielberg's "The Terminal" (2004). For five seasons, Rodriguez played the recurring role of Frank on the sitcom "The George Lopez Show" (ABC 2002-07). In 2010 Rodriguez was given a recurring role on the short-lived Mitchell Hurwitz sitcom "Running Wilde"(Fox) starring Will Arnett. In 2014 Rodriguez appeared on the Fox military sitcom "Unlisted," playing Corporal Chubowski for 8 episodes. Beginning in 2013, Rodriguez appeared on the dark comedy "Getting On" (HBO 2013-15), an adaptation of a British series. Rodriguez next appeared in the critically-acclaimed series "The Last Man on Earth" (Fox 2015- ), starring Will Forte as the only human left alive after a deadly virus destroys the population of the planet.
