In 1995, actor Lars Mikkelsen made his TV debut in the Danish TV movie "Mappen." Also in 1995, he starred in "Dracula" at the Aalborg Theater in Copenhagen." In 2007, he earned international acclaim as Troels Hartmann on the Scandinavian crime drama "The Killing." Mikkelsen's early acting career consisted of roles in various films, such as "Kira's Reason: A Love Story" (2003), the foreign "King's Game" (2004) with Anders Wodskou Berthelsen and "Nordkraft" (2005). He also appeared in the Sonja Richter mystery thriller "Cecilie" (2007) and "De Fortabte Sjaeles O" (2007) with Anders Wodskou Berthelsen. He kept working in film throughout the early 2000s and the 2010s, starring in the dramatic adaptation "What No One Knows" (2008) with Maria Bonnevie, "Flugten" (2009) and "Headhunter" (2009). He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "Sherlock" (PBS, 2010-). He also lent his voice to the animated feature "Ronal the Barbarian" (2011) with Brigitte Nielsen. Recently, he continued to act in "A Caretaker's Tale" (2012), "Fortidens skygge - Den som dræber" (2012) with Jakob Cedergren and the dramatic adaptation "What Richard Did" (2013) with Jack Reynor. He also appeared in "Montana" (2015). Mikkelsen most recently acted in "When Animals Dream" (2015).
