Kari Väänänen was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Väänänen's early acting career consisted of roles in various films, such as "Jon Kertomus Maailman Lopusta" (1982), "Apinan Vuonna" (1983) and the Risto Tuorila war "Tuntematon Sotilas" (1983). He also appeared in "Rosso" (1984), the Markku Halme crime picture "The Clan: Tale of the Frogs" (1984) and "Calamari Union" (1985). He kept working in film throughout the nineties, starring in the Matti Pellonpaa crime drama "Rapsy and Dolly" (1990), "Amazon" (1991) and the Aki Kaurismäki documentary "Missa on Musette?" (1992). He also appeared in "Leningrad Cowboys Meet Moses" (1994). In his more recent career, he continued to act in the dramatic comedy "Spy Games" (2000) with Bill Pullman, "Bad Luck Love" (2001) and the dramatic adaptation "Ambush" (2002) with Peter Franzén. He also appeared in the comedy "Vieraalla Maalla" (2003) with Irina Björklund. Väänänen most recently acted in "We are the Pirates of the Roads" (2015).
