Joseph David Keery was born on Apr. 24, 1992 in Newburyport, MA. He struck up an interest in performance during high school, which he carried with him to DePaul University in Chicago, IL. After graduating in 2014, Keery stepped into the professional acting world by way of minor roles on series like "Chicago Fire" (NBC 2012-) and "Empire" (Fox 2015-). It was soon enough, however, that Keery landed his big break: a costarring role on the breakout hit supernatural horror series "Stranger Things" (Netflix 2016-), on which Keery played the role of high school bully-turned-good guy Steve Harrington. In addition to his role on the series proper, Keery and popular actor and comedian Ben Schwartz, best known for his role of Jean Ralphio on "Parks and Recreation" (NBC 2009-2015), collaborated on a number of comedic viral videos capitalizing on their shared physical resemblance. During Keery's tenure on "Stranger Things," he also appeared alongside Jessica Chastain in Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut "Molly's Game" (2017).
