Famed artist Munch deals with unhappy love, the loss of his older sister, addiction and rejection by the art establishment. At the end of his days, Munch fights to save his life's work from the Nazis during WWII.

In 1940, the Germans invaded Norway with clear goals of controlling the king, the government, the coast, the iron ore and the Norwegian gold reserves. At the same time, a group of resistance fighters was given an important mission.
