While studying performing arts at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Gok Wan started turning his focus to fashion. By the early 2000s he began fashion consulting for several high profile British celebrities, including Bryan Ferry, Damien Lewis, and Johnny Vaughan. His fashion consulting became so in demand that he soon started publishing advice columns for fashion magazines like "Marie Claire," "Cosmopolitan," and "Glamour." By the early 2000s Wan transitioned into television, becoming an "on-screen" fashion consultant for "MTV Shakedown," "Big Brother's Little Brother," and "The Wright Stuff," among plenty of others. In 2006 Wan presented his own fashion show, "How to Look Good Naked," on Channel 4, and even wrote a book, "How to Look Good Naked: Shop for Your Shape and Look Amazing!," that accompanied the series. Wan took a break from fashion in 2009 to present a documentary-style BBC series, "Too Fat Too Young," which examined the plight of overweight children in England. Being an overweight child himself, Wan was personally drawn to the material, and reflected on his own experiences to help the show's subjects overcome their obesity. In 2010 Wan began hosting a new fashion-themed show, "Gok Wan's Clothes Roadshow," in which he puts on a fashion show at a different place each week.
