Though some would say she had a famous face long before her movie career, Ella Purnell is perhaps best known for her role in "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" (2016). Born in London in 1996, Purnell worked as a baby model during her infancy, but was never attracted to the occupation as she grew older. Instead, she enrolled in music, acting, and dance classes at Sylvia Young Theatre School and participated in programs at Young Actors' Theatre Islington. She was eventually cast in the children's chorus in a production of "Oliver!" at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London at age 12, and began auditioning for film roles. Her first one would come in 2010 when she was cast in the romantic drama "Never Let Me Go" (2010). More roles quickly followed as she appeared alongside Clive Owen in the thriller "Intruders" (2011) and as a catty high-schooler in the action sequel "Kick-Ass 2" (2013). Purnell would mark another landmark achievement when she was cast as the younger version of the title character in Disney's "Maleficent" (2014). She then co-starred in the confrontational drama "Wildlike" (2016) before landing another milestone role, appearing alongside Eva Green in Tim Burton's "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" (2016).
