Corinna Harfouch is a popular German actress arguably best known to international audiences for her memorable and chilling role as Magda Goebbels in the acclaimed 2004 drama "Downfall," about the last days of Adolph Hitler. She studied acting and worked as a nurse in the 1970s, jumping into sporadic movie roles throughout the 1980s and usually playing doctors, police officers, or lovelorn wives. Her most notable early role as the woman torn between her husband and a tortured writer in the hit "Treffen in Travers" and her regular co-starring role as Dr. Lilo von Barnim in the medical television show "Unser Lehrer Doktor Specht" brought the actress significant attention. Although she is most well-known in Germany, substantial parts in "Downfall," "The Elementary Particles" (based on Michel Houellebecq's controversial novel), and Tom Twyker's thriller "Perfume: The Study of a Murderer" have helped make Harfouch internationally known. In 2009, she starred in the harrowing drama "This is Love," receiving acclaim for her portrayal of an alcoholic policewoman haunted by the dissolution of a marriage. German audiences arguably know her best for her performance in the police drama "Blond: Eva Blond!."
