American viewers first became familiar with Danish actor Alex Hogh Andersen when he joined the cast of the historical drama "Vikings" (History, 2013-) in 2016 playing the cunning Ivar. Born in a small town outside Copenhagen in 1994, Andersen discovered his love of acting in his elementary school drama class. He would indulge his passion through school plays for many years, eventually enrolling at the University of Copenhagen, where he majored in Film and Media Studies. Around this same time, Andersen also began auditioning for professional acting jobs, triumphantly snaring a role on the Danish mini-series "Outsider" (R-Film, 2012) in 2012. He would follow this up with a co-starring role on the family oriented series "Tvillingerne & Julemanden" (TV2, 2013). After appearing in a small role in Tobias Lindholm's 2015 drama "A War" (2015), Andersen landed upon the chance to appeal to English speaking audiences with an audition for the established series "Vikings."
