Ajay Devgan is a well-known Bollywood film actor who has appeared in such popular films as "Jigar" and "Zakhm." Encouraged to pursue acting by his stunt choreographer father and film producer mother, Devgan graduated from Mithibai College before making his film debut in the blockbuster 1991 Bollywood film "Phool Aur Kaante" as a son caught between maintaining his father's criminal empire and breaking free of the family business. Devgan soon landed roles in such films as "Vijaypath" and "Diljale," and in 1995 he earned his first Filmfare nomination for his role in the police drama "Naajayaz." He worked steadily throughout the early 2000s in such films as "The Legend of Bhagat Singh" and "Zameen," and in 2000 he produced and starred in his first film, the family comedy "Raju Chacha." Devgan, who married Bollywood film star Kajol in 1999, next appeared in the critically acclaimed political thriller "Khakee" and in the Hindi adaptation of "Othello," the 2006 film "Omkara." In 2008 he directed and starred alongside Kajol in the Bollywood romantic drama " U Me Aur Hum," and he has since appeared in the reality TV crime drama "Golmaal Returns" and in the violent thriller "Once Upon a Time in Mumbai."
