The grandmother of a Kimberley man missing in remote far-western Queensland says her grandson's disappearance has left her and other relatives heartbroken.

Jeremiah "Jayo" Rivers hasn't been seen for a fortnight after becoming separated from a group of campers near Wilsons River, about 20 kilometres from Noccundra.

His family continues to look for him with the assistance of police, after an official air and ground search for Mr Rivers was reactivated on Saturday.

"Jayo is a role model for all of his siblings," grandmother Anne Rivers said from Noccundra.

"His younger brothers look up to him and his sisters respect him, elderly people respect him because of his nature. He's a good-natured young fella and we all love him so dearly.

"Jayo, my heart is broken and so is the rest of the family... Please come home, go to the nearest police station talk to them and tell them what the go is.

"Keep yourself safe with prayers."

Mr Rivers was believed to have been travelling to Darwin to visit relatives, after spending the winter months playing football for Balranald in the Central Murray Football League.

He was reported missing after two men in the vehicle he'd been travelling in were forced to return to New South Wales by Queensland police responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area.

Mr Rivers was reported missing once the men arrived at Tibooburra in New South Wales. Both men have since tested positive to COVID-19.

His grandmother has also appealed for the public to help find him.

"Please if anyone out there has seen my grandson please call the police and let them know.

"We're so worried about him and we need him back home for Christmas."

Family vows to keep searching

Members of Mr Rivers family have been at Noccundra for the past 10 days.

"We will not give up on our son," his Aunty Belinda Rivers said in a Facebook post on Friday.

"We have more family members travelling from WA and (the) NT in the search for our son."

Ms Rivers also posted a photo believed to have been taken shortly before Jayo went missing. He can be seen wearing a black Chicago Bulls singlet and dark green pants and appears to be walking away from the camp.

His Aunty thanked people who have provided support for the family as they continue their search.

"We receive a lot of calls and support and we thank each and every one of you for your ongoing contributions to the search. Thank you to all family, friends and strangers sending money and donations."
