At 17-years-old, The Kid Laroi has become the youngest person to have a number one album on the ARIA charts, hitting the top spot with his album F*ck Love (Savage).
The Indigenous rapper who grew up in the suburb of Redfern in Sydney, has been vocal about his roots.
"My great, great, grandfather was part of the stolen generation. He was taken from his Aboriginal family and placed into a white family."
The rapper and his family have since relocated to Los Angeles where they are now currently based.
After hitting number one, The Kid Laroi tweeted: "#1 in my own country. Words cannot describe this feeling. Anybody who knows me, knows that where I’m from means everything to me."
The Kid Laroi is only the second male Indigenous solo act to reach the top spot on the ARIA album charts after Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu reached number one in April 2018 with Djarimirri (Child Of The Rainbow).
Last year the rapper's album reached number three on the Billboard charts in the US. He's amassed a number of fans worldwide, including the singer Elton John : "You’re gonna be one of the biggest artists in the whole wide world.”
